Welcome to the second edition of Global Stroke Alliance, for Strokes without frontiers! Global Stroke Alliance is a joint initiative to assess and discuss the best evidence for the implementation of stroke programs at all levels: prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.

The first edition was held in March 2020, the city of Rio de Janeiro. Specialists, health managers, researchers scientific societies and industry came together over three days to discuss evidence-based public policies and practices in dealing with strokes.

The program included the following highlights:

  • 2nd Latin American Ministerial Meeting on Strokes;
  • Capacity building and refresher courses on stroke prevention (for primary care professional );
  • A research workshop by Aliança Global independent networks aimed at stroke trials (GAINS); Workshop on the acute care of strokes;
  • Brazilian Health Managers Forum; Neurointervention Forum – Endovascular treatment of acute stroke;
  • Plenary Session, featuring a presentation of regional plans of action for implementing stroke management;
  • Hands-on acute care of strokes; Hands-on neurointervention;
  • Stroke Challenge (a team challenge geared towards acute care of strokes).

The second edition will be held in August 2022, in the city of São Paulo. Global Stroke Alliance 2022 is being developed with a comprehensive and multidisciplinary program, geared towards longitudinal stroke care: Promotion, Primary Prevention, Acute Care, Subacute Care, Secondary Prevention and Rehabilitation.

We will approach interfaces of Care, Research and Public Policies, discussing the historic challenges and the advances since the first edition of the event. We will once again call on health professionals, health managers, scientific societies, industry and the community to join us in a collaborative event, as we believe each is a link that strengthens our cause.
